English Beehive Votive Candle H:5cm/2" W:5cm/2" 8-10 hours

English Beehive Votive Candle H:5cm/2" W:5cm/2" 8-10 hours

A beehive-shaped votive candle, hand poured in England, using 100% pure beeswax and a 100% cotton wick

Each candle is is 5cm/2 inches tall and 5cm/2 inches wide (approx.)

It burns for 8-10 hours (approx.)

Works well for smaller dinner tables as well as for freshening up spare rooms and bathrooms (without opening the window for the whole day during cold days)

100% pure beeswax candles burn longer, cleaner and brighter than other 100% pure natural wax candles (like soy, palm or vegetable wax) and they are the finishing touch to an elegant table setting

This is an ideal slow-burning candle that provides a soft sunshine glow that warms up a room. When it is lit, it will emit a lovely subtle honey aroma and provide an air purifying effect in the room- reducing the level of air pollutants and irritants such as dust

Our candles are great for the table as their subtle honey aroma will not clash with your food- unlike paraffin or soy candles as most of these have heavy chemical fragrances/scents as well as artificial colours and dyes.

Our candles are naturally coloured by pollen granules that the honey bees brush onto the beeswax in the hive and given their lovely aroma by the nectar from the flowers that the honey bees have foraged on

No added artificial colours/dyes & no added artificial fragrance/scents

All Honey Bee Candles products are handmade by the 2 of us (Priscilla & Pravana) in small batches so each item is given our full attention and you will experience the highest quality

This beehive candle is modeled on a type of beehive called a skep. Skeps are traditionally handmade using straw and used by European beekeepers to attract honey bees that have swarmed. It is a humane (cruelty-free) and pesticide-free way of returning the honey bees to the apiary (collection of beehives) or introduce them into a new beehive. Modern beekeepers still use skeps for this reason

Up until the Victorian times, skeps were also used to keep honey bees. It was during the Victorian Era that invention of easily removable honeycomb frames within a beehive was made- this revolutionised beekeeping as it allowed beekeepers to remove only the surplus honey and beeswax while leaving the honey bees to continue as they would naturally. We only use beeswax that is the by-product of surplus honey collections

Natural beeswax is the only type of natural wax that can be used for hand poured candles in its pure state. It is a really fascinating material as it is firm enough to allow us to create unique and detailed designs such as the English Beehive but soft enough to be flexible so that it does not splinter and chip when placed onto a spiked candle stand. 100% pure beeswax candles do not expire, go rancid; they do not “go off”. If stored in a cold room or near a window, a 100% pure beeswax candle will develop “bloom”. This is a white film that starts off as a thin layer and thickens with time- it looks like the first snow of winter. Many people love seeing “bloom” as it is proof that the candle is 100% pure beeswax. Mixtures of beeswax and other waxes are not able to form “bloom”. “Bloom” should not affect how the candle burns, how long it burns for and its natural subtle honey aroma. If you don’t like this, simply light your candle and the “bloom” will disappear as the candle warms up from the heat of its flame

Natural ionisers Only 100% pure beeswax candles purify the air as they emit negative ions. Dust, pollen and pollution are airborne due to their postive ions so the negative ions of a burning beeswax candle neutralise them- leaving a lovely subtle honey aroma and a gently warmed room

In cities or dusty areas, you will be able to see the molten wax pool at the top of the candle start to darken: this is because when the airborne postive ions become neutalised, they become a complete molecule which is heavier than air so it becomes a solid

When a beeswax candle has been burning long enough, you will be able to experience the difference: it’s sort of like a ray of sunshine, fresh ocean breeze or freshly cut green grass

If you start to burn Honey Bee Candles every day, the air in your home will be cleaner, sweeter and ultimately healthier than if you didn’t purify the air. For best results, ideally vacuum carpets or wipe hard floors daily but a few times a week also works well. The more that you burn Honey Bee Candles, the greater the effect but you should start to notice a difference from the first burn. To start, try burning a Honey Bee Candle for three hours every day for a week. If you are new to beeswax candles, we recommend Benjamin or the Bee Column along with a spiked candle stand to start your experience

My daughter and I hand make all our candles in England, in small batches using certified organic beeswax and 100% pure cotton wicks. We will send them to you using plastic-free and zero-waste recycled packaging; this means that everything is biodegradable (or you can recycle it) so nothing needs to go to landfill.

We strongly advise that this candle is lit using a candle stand- we recommend trying our unique candle stand that is great for families with small children and pets as it was designed to provide increased stability compared to the majority of other candle holders. It can accommodate any candle: from a candlestick to a 8.5cm/3.5" wide pillar candle.
